Hi Everyone, haven't been around much. A lot of business travel. Just for fun I thought I would share the folder of pictures I'm taking while I'm in India for five weeks. Still two weeks to go! https://okaugust.smugmug.com/Birds-India/

To quote Sesame Street "one of these things is not like the other." LOL

I think this one is well pleased with the accommodations because it's a preserve, but seeing it makes me realize how hard they are to spot. It looks like a bit of broken off branch unless it's pointed out that it's there.

I love this area. I can see why people snow bird to Arizona in the winters!

We are building a house up here and I gave the landscapers all a list of bird friendly plants, hoping for lots of berries and birds in the next few years myself! Hope you see some!

Thank you! They are sort of all over up here. I've gotten a couple of decent videos too of them dancing around. They sure are cute even if they aren't colorful.

Hi All, I've tried to figure out a way to bring together Wyoming birders, since I just moved here. There are various resources for WY birders but nothing like in Colorado. For now I'm going with a facebook Group, after an initial try with a facebook Page. Turns out the Page doesn't allow visitor posts in the main timeline, and I am hoping it turns out like the Colorado Bird Photography facebook group. If anyone is interested in seeing what we have going on up here, please consider checking out and... see more joining our group! Thanks! https://www.facebook.com/groups/403337446664409/

I'm pretty sure this is a juvenile goshawk and not a cooper's, by the streaking that goes lower on the belly and to the tail feathers. The ranger thought he'd seen a goshawk a few days prior but didn't get a photo. It was also larger than a red tailed that came up into the same tree a few minutes later.

It was just luck. You are right, they were very active, flitting around. I was standing on the back patio of my parents' house and saw them, realized it was a new bird to me, and went tearing through the whole house to get my camera, down the stairs, up the stairs, and just got it in time! Then they were back in the trees again. Never got another shot.
